Xu Chaoxing
China National Crafts Master, National Intangible Cultural Heritage Inheritor of "Longquan Celadon", and Senior Member of the China Arts and Crafts Association.
Apprenticed at age 13 under master artisan Li Huaide, Xu dedicated over five decades to ceramic artistry. Renowned for his meticulous craftsmanship, humility, and innovative spirit, he perfected traditional celadon techniques while pioneering a pure, elegant, and refined artistic style that expanded the aesthetic boundaries of celadon and deepened ceramic cultural heritage.

Key Achievements:

  • 1979: "Sino-American Friendship Linglong Lamp" selected as a state gift by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, now housed in the White House 


  • 1980: Appointed Director of Longquan Celadon Research Institute.

  • 1982: "52cm Welcoming Giant Platter" won 1st Prize at the 2nd National Ceramic Design Competition, hailed as a "national treasure" and collected in Zhongnanhai Ziguang Pavilion 


  • 1988: Awarded the National May 1st Labor Medal and National Outstanding Scientist/Technician honors.

  • 1999: "66cm Wanbang Changsheng Jiqing Vase" acquired by the Great Hall of the People 


  • 2006: "Group Monkey Platter" and "Grey-Glazed Ripple Bowl" collected by the National Art Museum of China

Legacy: A trailblazer in reviving Longquan celadon, Xu pioneered hybrid Ge-Di Kiln techniques, delicate "hollow" carvings, and innovative glaze effects. His works blend ancient traditions with modern artistry, cementing his status as a guardian of Chinese ceramic heritage
